The Big Issue is a magazine that offers people who are homeless the opportunity to earn their own money and gain a sense of independence. We were tasked with creating a cover design and our solution was to create a cover concept that could be used for future covers. After interviewing some of the sellers we found a common story was that they weren't on the streets by choice and often had a message they would like to be heard. To portray a sense of individuality these messages were turned into hand drawn typographic pieces, the intention being that going forward each treatment is different to the next.
