I’m thrilled to have contributed to UK Creative Festival’s thought-leadership series Golden Nuggets with my article Advertising: Where Has It Gone?. When I first stepped into the world of advertising at sixteen inspired by a talk from Graham Fink. I fell in love with the magic of creative storytelling: ads that made people laugh, reflect, share, and most of all remember.

But over the years, I’ve watched the pace accelerate and the industry shift. In my article I talk about how “fast ads”, social-media pressure and ever-shortening deadlines have often replaced careful, meaningful creativity. What used to be about ideas worth talking about feels, too often, like an algorithm chasing images, sound and speed.

Contributing to Golden Nuggets gave me a platform to speak up, not just from the vantage of a seasoned creative, but as part of a broader conversation about where advertising is headed, and what we need to do to steer it back toward craft, soul, and lasting impact.

If there’s one thing I hope anyone reading my piece, especially younger creatives, takes away, it’s this: sustain curiosity. Protect your creative space. Give yourself time to explore, observe, reflect, and push boundaries. Because that spark of wonder, that appetite for storytelling, that’s what advertising once lived on. And it still can.
