I built two stained glass windows with zero experience

A few months ago I decided to try something completely outside my world of digital design: stained glass. Not designing it on-screen, actually making it. With real glass, real tools, and a very real chance of slicing my fingers open.
I started with a simple idea, sketched it out, and then taught myself each step as I went. Cutting glass. Stretching lead, learning the difference between 'H' and 'C' came profiles, cutting the lead to fit the lengths, leading the pieces together. Soldering joints that (eventually) stopped looking like melted candle wax. Then came cementing, chalking, cleaning, and finally holding the finished piece up to the light for the first time.
And honestly? That moment was magic.
It reminded me why making things matters, not just clicking, undoing, tweaking, and revising, but creating something that exists in the real world, with weight and texture and flaws you learn to love.
I didn’t know what I was doing when I began. I just followed curiosity, trusted the process, and kept at it until the pieces came together. Literally.
Now the glass panes welcome anyone to my home, and every time the sun hits it, I’m reminded that one, now have my personal mini Chapel and two learning something new is always worth it. Even when you’re starting from zero.
